As part of its commitment to promoting STEM education and sustainability, the Kenya Space Agency (KSA) was a sponsor and exhibitor at the Green Conference, themed "Energy, Adaptation, and Policy." The conference, held on the 20th and 21st of February 2025 at the University of Nairobi, brought together experts, policymakers, and students to discuss innovative solutions for sustainable development.
The KSA represented by Major Aloyce Were, engaged in a panel discussion on sustainable transportation systems and the application of space technologies in urban mobility. In this session valuable insights into how KSA is actively involved in leveraging space-based solutions to enhance sustainable urban transportation.
During the discussion, Major Were emphasized the agency’s role in facilitating data-driven decision-making for urban planners. By utilizing satellite imagery and geospatial data, KSA contributes to designing efficient transportation networks that reduce carbon footprints, minimize traffic congestion, and enhance public transit systems.
KSA’s participation in the Green Conference reaffirmed its commitment to integrating space technology into sustainable development initiatives. Through continued collaborations with stakeholders in transport, climate, and urban planning sectors, KSA aims to foster innovative solutions that promote sustainability and champion the use of space technology to build greener, more resilient urban centres in Kenya.
